You are only as young as the last time you changed your mind
I have to fight it every day. That tendency to hold tight to my righteousness.
Are we able to become mature enough to stand with a level of certainty, to make choices that are an absolute YES, and be willing to be wrong?
For no matter how powerful our sense of right, our intuition, our yesness, we can still be wrong. We can have the wrong information, the wrong recollection, the wrong context.
As we age we can fall into the lazy hubris of a fixed mindset, of ‘knowing,’ or we can keep wrenching the widow to our mind open, to let the strange other light in.
I want to let the strange other light in. Even when it scares me to death. Especially when it asks me to reconsider something I had held as sacredly right for a long time.
