Whom do we serve?

This is a question worthy of revisiting.
In our youth we might serve ourselves. One day we may realise that serving ourselves without consideration for others leaves us empty.
We might serve power, to realise that power indeed corrupts and we become a shadow of ourselves in our corruption.
If we serve ideals are they really our ideals, or have we swallowed the ideals of propagated media?
Do we serve money? Does this abstract tool dictate the order and time of our lives, enslaving us without realising we have been enslaved?
Do we serve the whole towards a higher order of well-being in all domains? And if we do, is this a fool’s game or a worthy one?
Whom do you serve with your whole heart and why?
