What are you willing to accept to get what you want?

This question takes us deep into our morality.

Each of us has the capacity to sell our soul, or parts of it, for something that we believe will fill a need.

Every human has to confront the part of them that is open to integrity and morality prostitution.

So we might ask the question of ourselves, and do so regularly.

What are you willing to accept to get what you want or desire?

What is the line that you will cross? And when does that line go one step too far?

Will you allow another to suffer so you can be comfortable? Only one person’s suffering? How about ten people? One hundred? One thousand?

Will you vote for the always-lying, racist, solipsistic leader because you will get a better tax return?

Will you continue to buy even knowing that your purchases come at the price of modern slavery?

These questions are hard to answer. They require the willingness to confront contexts that we would prefer not to know. They ask us to be curious and hungry for the truth, even when the truth might demand that we change our lives and choices as a consequence.

Injustice happens through our actions. Every day. Stories are woven as spells to have us believe we are helpless against injustice.

We never are. We contribute to injustice through either our ignorance, wilful or not, or our wilful choices for comfort.

This is not about perfection and moral righteousness, which is a curse itself.

We must continue to ask the question, continue to interrogate our choices.

And take full responsibility for the consequences of our choices and actions.
