We are 5 to 15 years away from a significant transition

I was born at the end point of the boomer generation. I do not relate to boomers at all. I have never accumulated assets. I am very tech-savvy. I listen to youth music. I did get a zero-fee tertiary education — lucky lucky me.
While I was raised in a conservative household, I am now disgusted with the greed, corruption and power plays that dictate every action within the various global iterations of conservatism.
As an older woman, I have the privileged of my skin colour with a sprinkle of ageism and misogyny as ever-present flavours. Ageism and misogyny seem to be getting worse if anything.
I watch the reigns of power held by mostly older white men, who appeal to the boomer generation — that generation who floated through post-war life with abundant, accessible education, good wages, affordable health care and ample opportunity to buy your home standard conditions — and while it sickens me to see the decisions the white male power brokers make and the corruption they seem to accept as normal, I know their time is coming due.
In 5–10 years, the boomers will be no longer a force of any significant kind. Already the millennials are reaching higher numbers. When they vote, watch out. Our beautiful Earth will sigh with relief.
While we are talking about grandmothers and grandfathers, real people, our teenagers will be better for their passing.
Every day I work to attune to young people — their likes, dislikes, music, art, language, play and culture.
I do not want to be old in mind and spirit. Despite my best efforts to keep age at bay, my body has its own plan. If we do not provide an incredible pathway for our young people, better even than the one we had, without ecological offence or disadvantage to anyone, then we have not progressed at all.
