Universal Human Rights

Universal human rights are either universal or they mean nothing. War crimes are war crimes no matter who perpetrates them. To accuse someone of a war crime does not make you an anti that race of people who are committing the war crime. It makes you committed to speaking out against war crimes.

In the last 24 hours, the police raided an event in Berlin. Yanis Varoufakis was to give a speech. The event was titled Palestine Congress. Before you might jump to assume anything about this, read Varoufakis’s response here. https://x.com/yanisvaroufakis/status/1778823877646278790 He makes it very clear this is about Universal Human Rights.

Amnesty International has condemned the action of the German Police. Rightly so.

We are entering dangerous times. History repeats itself when people convene to protest ethnic cleansing and acts of genocide and are shut down from doing so.

Even more dangerous when one could look at these actions against Palestinians as mirroring the terrible crimes against Jewish people. The victims become the perpetrators.

Universal Human rights are worth fighting for. Universal, or naught. Everyone, all. Or no one at all.
