Unbeatable

Is beatable.

Certainty is uncertain.

Right is never fully right.

Hubris seeds when we take a stand of being unbeatable, certain or right.

There is a rigidity and brittleness that comes with hubris.

I can observe quiet confidence. I can observe someone who has done all of the work, left nothing off the table.

But the moment hubris seeds into the cracks, all possibilities become open.

Whether in sport, business or life…hubris arrives in the shadow of the night, flirting with us, seducing us, spinning its silken web.

Often we do not even see we have been trapped in its embrace.

Until we are beaten, shown to be wrong, introduced to the chasm of uncertainty.

Too late.

The question…do we learn?
