To know what is enough

What is enough?
Enough money, profit, love, sex, status, fame, solitude, poor-me-victim positioning, excuses, income, stuff, shoes, toys, friends, sales, drama…
To know the answer to these questions is to find a space to relax.
I remember when I could not answer the question, “what is enough income each year?” The reason I could not answer it was that I had been living on the edge of precarity for so long. When living in scarcity, perceived or real, it is hard to imagine what enough might feel like.
Strangely, my enough point is far lower than I ever thought. I only yearned for things because I never felt like I could have them. Now I know I can have them I do not need them. The laughable paradox!
I am happy to know that over the next ten years, I can slowly and persistently pay off the mortgage. I do not need to do that today. The habit is in the savings discipline. The savings discipline is not suffering, rather the delight of restraint in a world where restraint is trashed as foolish and against the culture of more, now!
To know what is enough for you in all things is to be fulfilled and satisfied every day.
