To justify

--

To declare to be innocent or blameless.

I am an advocate for justice. When a wrong is done, or the ground of opportunity is unequal, justice needs a voice.

Innocence — grounded in integrity — should not require justification. It stands on its own.

To blame — to point the finger — is to partner with a sense of victimhood — and in so doing seed the ground for powerlessness and entitlement.

Blame removes our contribution to the action we blame another for.

True victims and true innocence require justice.

But to endlessly justify actions without accepting any level of responsibility is a declaration of our own culpability.

A world of blame and justification is a world missing self-responsibility. This world is ugly.

Innocence is beautiful.
