Solid Foundations
For so much of my life I was a single mother, self-employed.
My foundations — support networks, financial security, home security, collaborative networks — felt tenuous.
I lived, as so many people do, in precarity.
This is not all bad. I know how to make money do magic things to stretch seemingly impossible chasms. I know thriftiness. I know how to ask for help. I know how to be incredibly resourceful.
All of these skills are valuable, and so often ignored against the more flamboyant skills that get people promoted.
Now that I have solid foundations — a partner in every sense of the word partner — trust, play, collaboration, threshing ideas, steady when I am flakey — and a sense of home and financial security I have not known — I recognise just how much solid foundations enable increased creativity and the capacity to be of greater service.
For the last few years I have focused on building a solid foundation in my business. Syntropic World is becoming the equivalent in business of a cathedral in architecture, and the focus on the foundations will allow the cathedral, when it emerges from the ground, to be both beautiful and last a long time, able to be enjoyed and celebrated by many for a long time.
Building solid foundations with intention is a worthy act.
