Roiling emotions

Injustice. It makes me so mad. My guts are roiling.

I am mad because politicians get away with lying, cheating and fattening their bank accounts. It has become normal operations. Sponsored by big money, they sell their souls to the highest bidder. And people vote for them. It is beyond comprehension that an idiot and lifetime conman who cannot string a single sentence together is even considered to become the most powerful person on the planet, in control of weapons that will end human life. And the nastier he is, the more he seems to be loved.

On my local scene, a facsimile of a leader, up to his eyeball in sponsorship by mining and the lobby groups, denying science and sponsoring genocide, supporting the thrivability of big business and the already wealthy, and his own already wealthy status.

I am feeling almost helpless as the International Court of Justice declares Israel a rogue state for its settlements in the West Bank and its horror in Gaza, and my country, on the ever-faithful lap dog of the USA, says and does nothing. Acts that are indefensible. Children, so many children. While they are playing. Bombed. If these children were of another ethnicity or from another place, the news feed would be in overdrive. But no. Sorry, kids, your birthright doesn’t give you global outrage.

Even American activists are shot. Zero. Zip. Silence. I wonder why this is allowed and sanctioned. What is the root of the root of Western silence and will there be a breaking point?

The oligarchs like Musk and Murdoch feed our reactive minds.

And I notice my reaction. Roiling. So angry I want to scream. I couldn’t not write this. But I will wait a day…before I publish, wondering if we need more rage, or perhaps, if we need a different kind of rage. A rage that stands against injustice, rising inequity, cruelty.

I wonder what it is within us that has us accept, or even worse, act, with such cruelty towards life and our fellow humans.

Perhaps it is time for our love of life, our love of dignity, reverence and justice for all to get us on the streets. Love guiding the rage. Not violence.

I am there.
