Playing by the rules

--

And when not to.

If we agree to a course of action, a project, or to become a part of a team, we agree to the rules of play.

Rules and boundary agreements that are fixed in stone, unable to adapt to change, are in fact entropic. Life and living systems are in constant flux.

If the rules are not enabling the purpose that we agreed to to come to life, the rules must be revised.

In a healthy ecology we do this together, with thoughtful consideration. We might revisit the rules regularly to re-establish their relevance to the context we now exist in.

When rules are held in rigidity by an increasing few, we must change the rules.
