It is legal. But is it moral?
Legal is a code that creates boundaries when people refuse to act with morality. Legal is also a code set by people to ensure those with wealth and privilege preserve their wealth and privilege.
To be moral is to be associated with or characterised by right behaviour.
Who determines what right behaviour is?
When we look through the lens of self-interest, right behaviour is anything that serves me.
Does this make it moral?
When we are living in the world aware that we are all wholes and parts of a greater whole, and that what we do affects others today and in the future, we consider morality through a different lens.
Right behaviour is right for me, you, others and the future.
Those who care less about me, you, others and the future will do anything that exists within the legal code, even if pushing the boundaries, in service to themselves. Morality for others is of no interest.
Most of us eventually learn that when we do this, when we live a life of self-interest only, we are isolated, unhappy, and disconnected from genuine relationships.
