Insufficiently feminine

Consider that no two snowflakes are the same. The mind boggles.

Yet there is an insistence from the overlords of humanity that women must fit a defined category of sameness. Not too strong, bossy, muscular, or masculine.

And as to the nuances of chromosomes, despite science showing that our gender is a spectrum, just like our cognitive, emotional, physical and moral intelligence is a spectrum — no — the misogynist bigots prefer a world of black and white. Nice, safe, easy to control.

If you are insufficiently feminine, as determined by some people who are often the ones who love stirring the hate pot against anything that breaks the stereotype that can be controlled, then your rights to do things that other people get to do are up for a challenge.

Women like Ilona Maher embrace the backlash against their insufficiently feminine status.

Women like Imane Khelif get spat on and accused of being other than they are by those who simply do not ask better questions, preferring instead to get the dopamine hit of righteous indignation. The cruelty breaks my heart.

We are glorious, gorgeous diverse creatures. All of us. Every creation.

How did we get to this? Where hate and cruelty towards others is cheered?

I am not Christian. I do know that the teachings of Christ were to love — and more especially to love the downtrodden, the diseased, the different.

Imane Khelif, I stand with you. You are sufficiently, beautifully, gloriously feminine. A woman in every way. Go, girl. Go.
