Honouring the whole value of a tree
Our economics states that the tree has no value at all unless we are prepared to cut it down and carve it up. It needs to be commodified, traded, exchanged to be registered on a balance sheet.
If you have ever sat under a tree and experienced its shade, or climbed a tree and known adventure and daring, or eaten the fruits of the tree, spent family time under the tree having picnics, known the awe of a tree’s majesty and endurance, enjoyed the sap from its inner core, used its medicine to heal, listened to the birds that call the tree home, known the complex network of roots or the cycle of light to energy to mulch to soil health to harvest, then you might know a part of the whole value of a tree.
It is because we have created a mechanism to ignore the many other values of a something that we live in a world eroded of the weightless invisible values that form a life of meaning.
Let us return to a whole systems approach to value, knowing that some values are debased the moment we seek to squeeze them, or reduce them, into a tradable currency.
This is the purpose of Synergistic Accounting, a core model of the Syntropic Enterprise Masterclass. Enrolling now here.
