Focus on One Small Skill

My surfing journey continues. The focus currently is to look down the face of the wave as I pop up. The default for beginners is to look at your board, or, worse, the board going over the edge of the breaking wave. (Terrifying.)

The irony is that the bigger and more powerful the wave, the easier it is to pop. Little waves are like trying to ride a bike when you are going very slowly. Wobble amplification.

So many moving parts. So much to think about and learn. All the elements compete for space at exactly the same time.

Focus on one small skill. Get that skill anchored into muscle memory.

Repeat.

Celebrate the small steps, the little progressions.

Every lesson in surfing is a life lesson.

*And I got the bonus of both dolphins and a rainbow.
