Caught in the weeds

When we are in unhappy places, we tend to get caught in the weeds. All of the one thousand things that are not working. All the backstabbing and blaming. The stories of this and that.

The drama trap is an easy place to hide from truth. Keeping the stories fed and watered nourishes us in some perverse way. Perhaps righteousness. Perhaps feeling important.

The real work of change is when we get above the drama and look to the Source of it all.

Discerning this requires perspective, objectivity, reflection — all impossible if we are still in the weeds.

Only when we get above the weeds and see the Source can we begin the journey of change.

So often, those who hold the reigns of power love to keep the people in the weeds, knowing that from that place, they are safe to continue doing whatever they want.
