Applying Nature’s Laws and Nature’s coordinate system to everything we do
I certainly live on the frontier of creating a Syntropic Enterprise. We at Syntropic World aim to be an exemplar of what a Syntropic Enterprise looks like. We want to be the demonstration.
That means that while we are following the Principles I teach in the Syntropic Masterclass and other programs, it is almost entirely emergent.
Working with emergence is not business-as-usual. There is no script. No 10-point plan.
There is only the next step, a step taken towards an obvious powerful purpose.
The purpose is the guide.
How will we know we have achieved the purpose? What will it look like when we have completed it? What will the world feel like? Whom will it affect? Who or what might pay a higher price for the purpose being achieved? What specifically will be evident because we have reached the purpose we set out to achieve?
Now we circle back to this moment and ask — what is the next step we need to take toward this purpose? Not the second or third step. The next one.
Anyone in business knows that when we take a step everything can and will change because of that step. So how can we possibly know what is the second step until we have taken the first?
Staying on the precipice of emergence is the practice. Finding comfort in the not knowing is the inner development of the Steward Leader.
The rules we use in Syntropic World as we take the next step are to be sure we apply Nature’s Laws and Nature’s coordinate system to everything we do.
A question I have to stop and ask regularly is — am I imposing my constructs on this next step, this design, this time frame, this desired short-term outcome towards the purpose, or am I applying Nature’s Laws as I promised to do? Is this next step the next step that needs to be taken to bring the Source Idea to life for that purpose? Or is it a step I want to take? Not the one that is needed?
This question is the intersection of action and of my Stewardship growth.
To Steward an idea to life. Not to push it or pull it. To hammer it or force it. Not to make the idea in my image. Not to impose my desires on it. It is not mine. I do not own it. The idea was gifted to me from a field cultivated from my own life experience and the input of thousands, if not millions, of ancestors, known and unknown, alive and dead.
If I have been gifted an idea and the animating impulse to bring it to life, against all odds — and there are many odds — then I would be wise to be confident that I have the skills and tools, plus what is needed to bring it to life. But not all at once.
I only need the skills, tools, experience, resources and provisions to bring the next step of the idea to life.
We grow up together, this idea and I. My capability, capacity, and knowledge grow with every step.
It is a truly wonderful way to live and work. Yet it certainly does challenge me.
When deeply attuned to the Source Idea and its Pattern Integrity, rooted in my trust of self, of Nature’s design, of Kairos time, then we flow and dance together as the team around me, and I, take that next step.
When I doubt, when I allow all the old fears — scarcity and stagnation from the world out there and the echoes of my ‘am I good enough‘ stories from the world in me — to occupy territory in my mind body being, then my feet struggle to find solid ground.
“Nature has its own gestation rate,” said Bucky Fuller, my mentor of over 35 years.
I am Nature. My Stewardship and development have their own gestation. Kairos time — the clock of the heavens — that pesky clock that we humans do not control — is time to be respected and honoured in a Syntropic Enterprise.
We have all experienced some form of Kairos time. The times we seemingly procrastinate to take an action that when we finally take the action, miracles and synchronicities that we could not have foreseen occur.
Over the last few weeks, I wanted things in Syntropic World to work on Christine’s time. I wanted them to work this way. To do this and that.
I jammed my radar. Refused to attend to the signals. To return to a relationship with the very idea I have been gifted to birth.
Caught up in the busy-ness was I. Business-as-usual running rampant. Knowing that what was calling me to attend to was to step back, stop! Attune to the Source Idea. Reconnect with that which I am Stewarding. Listen with exquisite and patient attention. Respect the next step.
How often do you jam your signals — the ones that come from some deep place — whispering ever so softly? We do this around our health, our relationships, and our work.
We shut off the most precious voice. Our own. We hand it over to others, giving them primacy over our intuitive senses. Or we deliberately ignore it because we do not want to heed it — to take the action it is whispering to us to take.
One of the many Principles we teach in the Syntropic Masterclass is Unity is Plural, at minimum two. We must have polarity to create space and shape.
If we do not create space — design in the spaciousness to listen to our own voice, listen to the voice of the wind, the trees, the dolphins and earth, listen to the idea we have been gifted to bring to life — then we will lose ourselves and what matters most.
I was jamming the signals. So the signals worked their way into my sleep, not in a little flow but in a streaming torrent.
I have learned that when I stop and honour the need for spaciousness and time to listen, I am gifted with a sense of reconnection.
And the scarcity and stagnation dam bursts.
I am at the interface of the emergent. So often I have no idea what I will do next, just as we have no idea what will happen next.
Do I choose to be the boulder in the flow — causing turbulence? And indeed, there are times turbulence is needed. Or do I want to be flow itself?
To honour the cycles? Not now. Now yet. Soon.
Now.
To trust the field of play and the wonderful people I get to play with in Syntropic World — their brilliance, love, daring, provocation, their willingness to challenge me, to hold the Syntropic Principles in a Petrie dish of exploration — knowing that with them and the enterprise we have created — there are few challenges we cannot surmount.
Nothing happens without them, without the wisdom, love and commitment of others.
These last few nights have been busy. Hours of creative download after weeks of my own stagnation.
I needed to get out of the way.
How often is that the truth of our lives?

Syntropic World is a global education and community of practice applying the organising principles of nature to enterprise design and human coordination. Creating ecologies of trust, ensuring integrity in everything, enabling collective sense making, and organising around a central purpose — how to create a world that works for 100% of humanity without ecological offence or the disadvantage of anyone.
