A transaction

--

A transaction without humanity is immediately reductive of the very things that anchor us to life.

For example; “Make an offer” on a piece of paper to buy a home. Numbers, conditions, name. No humanity. Just a price.

The value of a home is reduced to a price. We might think if we are the seller, that we are winning. Get the best price.

At what price?

In the short term, it looks and feels like winning.

In the long term, we have colluded with the humanity abstraction machine that debases the very things that keep our mental and social health intact. Love, care, dignity and connection.

When we are at the effect of the same game, we might admit that we said yes to its creation.
